He placed a sign near the store\u2019s refrigerator that read: \u201cIf you don\u2019t have money or a job you can have a sandwich and a bottle of water for free.\u201d Hemani said he wanted people who were struggling to know they could come in without feeling ashamed.<\/p>\n
He recalled seeing a woman arrive with two children who were hungry but had no money to buy them food. Rather than turning them away, he made them a pizza. He said he had been fortunate in his own life and wanted to help people who were having a difficult time.<\/p>\n
