In 2019, Addie Coggs, a Las Vegas mother of six, tragically passed away from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. While some cases of this severe nerve disease are genetic, her family believes her illness was triggered by something she drank.

The family points to a case of “Real Water” bought at Costco. A formal complaint accuses the company of selling bottled water that contained trace amounts of hydrazine, a toxic chemical used in rocket fuel. Experts believe the chemical accidentally formed during the water’s electrification and manufacturing process.

The toxic chemical is known to cause severe liver damage and has been linked to triggering ALS. According to law and crime reports, the family stated that Addie had never been exposed to this chemical before drinking the alkalized water, meaning the product directly sealed her fate.

The company ceased operations in 2021 after the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found major safety violations at their facilities. Since then, numerous lawsuits have been filed against the company, including claims from dozens of other people who suffered liver failure, severe illnesses, or death after drinking the water.
