Mike worked exhausting shifts at a grocery store while drowning in medical bills for his sick mother, Kaila. Every night he came home pretending everything was fine, though unpaid bills covered his desk. One evening, he noticed the old Bible his late grandmother Grace had left him with a note: “Open it when it’s hard.”
Years earlier, Grace had begged Mike to go to church with her, but he refused. “I’m not spending another Sunday stuck in church,” he snapped. Hurt, Grace replied, “If this is how you feel, I won’t speak to you again, Michael.” Two months later, she died.
At the will reading, Mike was furious to learn she left everything to the church and only gave him a Bible. “A Bible? That’s it?” he spat before hiding it away for years. But now, desperate and overwhelmed, he finally opened it.
As Mike flipped through the pages, stacks of hidden cash began falling out. Thousands of dollars had been tucked inside the Bible. Mike broke down crying. “Oh God, Grandma…” Memories of her love flooded back. “I’m sorry, Grandma,” he whispered.
Mike rushed to the hospital and told Kaila everything. She smiled softly. “That sounds exactly like Grace.” The money paid for her treatment, cleared their debts, and gave Mike a fresh start. Through it all, he realized one thing: despite their fight and years apart, his grandmother had never stopped loving him.
