A house fire is a terrifying nightmare, prompting many of us to unplug chargers and frequently check our smoke alarms. However, in the fall of 2019, Jason Whitaker from Kentucky discovered a hidden fire hazard he had never even considered before.
After noticing a strange smell that closely resembled an electrical fire, Jason frantically searched his home for the source. It took some time to locate, but he finally traced the dangerous, smoldering scent to a very unexpected culprit: an old spiral light bulb.
The bulb, which had been left in a lamp for four to five years, was completely packed with dead ladybugs. Naturally drawn to the warmth and light, the insects had nested deep between the glass spirals and begun to burn, coming dangerously close to igniting the entire house.
Horrified by the near-disaster, Jason shared photos in a Facebook warning that quickly went viral with over 430,000 shares. To keep your family safe from this bizarre and hidden danger, take a quick moment to inspect all the spiral bulbs around your home today!
