As the disease gradually took away his mobility, Borgonovo needed a wheelchair, and Baggio remained by his side, even pushing his former teammate in a powerful symbol of their bond. Borgonovo later founded an organization supporting ALS research and patients before sadly dying on June 27, 2013, aged 49.
