When Patricia Williams welcomed her son Redd in 2012, his striking white hair, blue eyes, and unusual eye movements eventually led doctors to diagnose him with Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1 (OCA1), a rare genetic condition that affects pigmentation and vision. Six years later, his younger brother Rockwell was born with the same condition, but the family soon faced another challenge when photos of the baby were stolen from social media and turned into cruel viral memes. Rather than continuing to fight an endless battle against online trolls, Patricia and her husband chose to educate others about albinism, while supporting their sons through vision challenges and bullying and helping them confidently navigate school and everyday life.
