Before You Throw Away Clothes With Bleach Stains, Check… See more

Accidentally splashing bleach on your favorite hoodie feels like a fashion tragedy, leaving bright orange or white marks all over dark clothes.

The cold, hard truth is that bleach does not stain fabric; it permanently strips the original color away.

While you cannot wash away the chemical damage, you can effectively restore the color using two reliable methods.

For tiny, pinhead-sized splatters, you can use rubbing alcohol to borrow color from the surrounding fabric.

Gently rubbing a soaked cotton ball inward softens the original dye and spreads the excess pigment over the spot.

When the bleach spot is too big for the alcohol trick, using a targeted fabric marker is the most reliable option.

Before coloring, you must rinse the area with cold water to ensure no active bleach remains to spread further damage.

Carefully dot the ink onto the spot, starting light and layering the color until the shade matches exactly.

Many fabric markers require a quick hit with an iron or hair dryer to permanently set the ink.

If the damage is extensive, you can dye the entire item black or intentionally add more bleach patterns for a tie-dye look.
