Why Would Your Pooch Have White Poop?

That strange white stool is your dog’s way of telling you something has changed. Often, it’s as simple as too much calcium from bones or certain treats, or a new food that’s loaded with bone meal. Cutting back on hard bones, checking ingredient lists, and offering a more balanced diet can return things to normal surprisingly fast.

But sometimes, it’s more than diet. Pale or white poop can signal trouble with the liver, gallbladder, or bile ducts, or even parasites and medication side effects. If the color change is persistent, or you notice lethargy, vomiting, pain, or loss of appetite, don’t wait and see. Collect a sample, call your vet, and describe everything your dog eats and takes. You know your dog better than anyone; when something looks wrong, that concern can be the very thing that saves their life.
