Scout discovered something far more fascinating than the typical dog, who usually returns from a walk with a stick or after rolling in something undesirable.
The brown-haired spaniel searched the Pentwyn neighbourhood of Cardiff and returned with 97g of cannabis and £2,200 in cash.
The green plastic packets of cannabis and the large amount of money were kept in a satchel bag concealed by the underbrush.
This finding was made the exact same week that five large bags of Class A narcotics were also found in Pentwyn’s underbrush.
South Wales Police proudly celebrated the discovery on social media, jokingly taking credit for letting the dogs out.
They stated that proactive patrols have been—and will continue to be—carried out around known hot spot locations based on community intelligence.
During this specific search, police dog Scout successfully alerted handlers to the hidden bag to take the drugs off the street.
The department emphasized that they regularly act upon the information provided by the public and encouraged citizens to keep it coming.
Over 300 impressed dog owners flooded the Facebook post’s comment section to praise the spaniel’s incredible nose.
One user jokingly remarked that their own spaniel only finds fox poo, while others quipped that money does indeed grow on trees.
