In a heartbreaking video published in June 2018, an orangutan in Indonesia desperately tried to stop a yellow excavator from destroying its rainforest home, pushing and climbing on the machine despite having no chance of winning. The scene became a powerful reminder of how deforestation for palm oil plantations destroys orangutan habitats, with countless trees and vital parts of their shrinking territory disappearing.
