Eleven-year-old Torren O’Grady, a sixth-grade student from North Stonington, Connecticut, was killed on September 2 when his bicycle collided with a school bus near Old Colony and Pinecrest roads, just five days after the school year began. His death devastated his family and community, prompting school counselors and emotional-support resources for students, while friends and residents organized fundraisers, memorials, candles, and a youth lacrosse tribute in his honor; the crash remains under investigation.
