In December 2023 near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., 17-year-old Devonta Lynch and an accomplice committed an armed carjacking against an off-duty female FBI agent, knocking her to the ground, pointing a gun at her, and stealing her vehicle before abandoning it 15 minutes later. Following his arrest at his residence—where investigators recovered a handgun magazine, 9mm ammunition, and matching Nike sneakers—Lynch was ordered to be held in juvenile detention without bond and charged as an adult, while authorities continue searching for the second outstanding suspect.
