A Texas mother faced a terrifying situation in 2022 when authorities said an intruder entered her home while she was inside with her children. The incident happened in Edinburg, Texas, and led to a police investigation after the suspect allegedly attempted to reach the room where the family had taken shelter.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, the woman and her children locked themselves inside a bedroom after discovering that someone had entered the home through the garage. Officials said the homeowner warned the intruder that she had contacted law enforcement and was armed, but he allegedly continued trying to get inside.
Authorities said the mother fired one shot through the closed bedroom door, striking the suspect in the arm. The injured man, identified as 36-year-old Carlos Garcia, was later found nearby by deputies, taken for medical treatment, and then arrested on a burglary charge.
No family members were reported injured during the incident. The case drew attention because of the dramatic circumstances surrounding the break-in and the mother’s decision to protect her children while waiting for help to arrive.
