Former U.S. Navy search-and-rescue swimmer Anthony Trevino, 31, filed a lawsuit against Amazon and the makers of a Colsen tabletop fire pit after alleging the alcohol-fueled device erupted into a fireball while he was refueling it at his San Diego apartment in September 2025, leaving him with severe third-degree burns across his face, neck, torso, arms and hands. Trevino spent weeks hospitalized and says he continues to suffer permanent scars and lasting physical effects. His lawsuit claims the fire pit was dangerously designed and susceptible to “flame jetting,” and comes after the Colsen product was recalled in 2024 following federal safety concerns.
