The experience left Kaspar-Williams distressed. He told the New York Post that being called “mom” ignored both his stated identity and the paperwork he had completed. Kaspar-Williams argued that pregnancy and motherhood should not be treated as automatically linked to womanhood. He noted that having a uterus does not guarantee the ability to conceive or carry a child, and that equating the two creates a false standard that excludes many people.
