What began as an ordinary breakfast turned into a nightmare when a gunman armed with an AR-15-style rifle opened fire inside a Waffle House restaurant in Antioch, Tennessee, on April 22, 2018. James Shaw Jr., who was unarmed, charged directly at the shooter and grabbed the rifle with his bare hands. Despite suffering severe burns from the weapon’s hot barrel, he refused to let go until he wrestled the gun away.
