A 59-year-old man arrived for a routine colonoscopy with no symptoms or health concerns. Nothing suggested the exam would hold any surprises, but doctors were shocked when the camera reached his transverse colon.
Resting inside was a fully intact ladybug, later identified as the multicolored Asian species *Harmonia axyridis*.
Specialists explain that people swallow small insects far more often than they realize, especially while asleep. However, finding one this far down the digestive tract—let alone completely intact—is extremely rare.
The rest of the procedure went smoothly, and the man went home completely unaware that a tiny bug had briefly stolen the spotlight.
