Drivers in parts of Maryland may notice an unusual change on the road: a thin blue line painted between the two yellow center lines. At first glance, it may look like a new traffic marking, but its purpose is quite different.
The blue line is meant to honor police officers and recognize the service and sacrifices they make in their communities. In Ocean City, Maryland, one such line was added along 65th Street.
The marking runs between the existing yellow center lines and leads toward the Ocean City Police Department headquarters. Supporters see it as both a symbolic tribute and a visible reminder of the officers who serve the community every day.
