After Sitting In The Desert For 40 Years, Elvis Presley’s Private Plane Has Been… See more

Beyond his legendary music and iconic fashion, Elvis Presley was a connoisseur of luxury design, as evidenced by his private 1962 Lockheed Jetstar. He custom-designed the interior with plush crimson velvet seats, rich mahogany paneling, and an onboard kitchen. After sitting abandoned as a tourist attraction in New Mexico for over three decades following his 1977 passing, the vintage aircraft recently resurfaced.

The iconic jet was sold at the Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car Auction in Florida for $260,000 to an anonymous telephone bidder. Though the exterior has faded to a muted red tint over the decades, the retro interior remains a remarkably preserved time capsule of the King’s opulent taste.

It stands as a fascinating piece of music history, capturing a glimpse of his larger-than-life lifestyle.
