Australian geologist and rescue expert Arnold Dix praised Nepali soldiers after two workers trapped for nine days in a hydropower tunnel were rescued alive following a devastating glacial-lake flood in the Himalayas. Dix helped identify where rescuers needed to dig and said soldiers blasted through car-sized boulders to reach the men, who had survived in total darkness without food. Despite dangerous rain, rising river levels and unstable ground, rescue teams continued searching for others, with more than 1,000 people reportedly still missing.
