For years Pai Lin bore tourists on her back, hauling heavy loads that gradually twisted her spine into a severe, permanent curve. In 2006 she was rescued and taken to the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand, where the rides and burdens finally ended and she could simply walk, rest, and live in peace. Her deformed body stands as a quiet reminder that animals used for entertainment often pay a lasting physical price tourists never see—and that they deserve safety, dignity, and genuine care instead.
