A Texas mother in Edinburg was forced to defend her children after 36-year-old Carlos Garcia allegedly broke into her home through the garage. Reacting quickly, the mother gathered her children into a bedroom, locked the door, and immediately called law enforcement to report the intrusion.
As Garcia allegedly approached the bedroom, the mother shouted clear warnings, telling him that she was armed and that police were on their way. Ignoring her warnings, Garcia attempted to break through the locked bedroom door. Protecting her children inside, the mother fired a single shot through the door, striking him in the arm.
Wounded by the gunshot, Garcia fled the house but was quickly located nearby by Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies. After receiving medical treatment for his arm injury, he was arrested and charged with burglary.
Thanks to the mother’s decisive actions and refusal to open the door, none of the family members were physically harmed during the frightening ordeal. The incident stands as a dramatic example of a parent successfully protecting her children during a high-stress home invasion.
