A Louisiana woman is warning pet owners to stay vigilant near waterways after a 10-foot alligator attacked and killed her 6-year-old pit bull, Brownie, during a walk along the lakefront in Kenner, Louisiana.
The dog was on a leash when he approached the water to cool off, but was quickly dragged under by the reptile. Local animal control officers later recovered the dog’s remains, and wildlife agents removed an 11-foot alligator from the area following the incident.
The owner expressed heartbreak over the loss and blamed the alligator’s aggressive behavior on humans feeding local wildlife.
