A 4-year-old child in Savonburg, Kansas, has died after receiving a reported electrical shock from a 220-volt clothes dryer while playing at home. Emergency services were notified Thursday evening as the parents rushed the unconscious child to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, where the child was pronounced dead.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as a tragic accident, with no foul play suspected. Local authorities extended their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, first responders, and hospital personnel.
To prevent electrical shock, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends using secure, tamper-resistant outlet covers that cannot be easily removed or choked on by young children.
