I Constantly Fell Asleep On My Brutal Subway Commute and Missed My Stop. Then A Stranger Intervened.

I was working a grueling graveyard shift across town, which meant my morning commute home on the subway was a daily battle against sheer exhaustion. Almost every single day, I would collapse onto the plastic train seat and immediately black out from fatigue. Because I was such a heavy sleeper, I ended up missing my actual transfer station at least three times a week, turning an already brutal commute into a multi-hour nightmare.

I assumed I was just an anonymous, invisible face among the thousands of tired commuters moving through the city. But a regular rider who shared the same morning route quietly noticed my daily struggle.

Without making a scene or causing embarrassment, he began keeping a watchful eye out for me. Every single morning when the train finally rolled into my transfer station, he would walk over, gently tap me on the shoulder, and say, “Hey friend, this is your stop.”

He did this faithfully for nearly two full months. We never exchanged names, and we never had long, deep conversations; he just saw a fellow worker who was completely running on empty and decided to act as my personal alarm clock. Thanks to his quiet vigilance, I never missed my stop again. It was a small, effortless act of daily grace that completely saved my mornings and got me home to my bed safely.
